Ever wonder “Why did I dream that?”. At first glance, dreams can appear to make no sense at all, or can make perfect sense. Weird and wacky dreams will often reveal important clues to your inner secrets and thoughts and provide keys to self-knowledge, happiness and glimpses into your near future, sometimes.
Everyone dream each and every night, even though you may not remember the dream. You may not be aware, but if you sleep for 8 hours, 2 of them are spent dreaming.
Based on your sleep patterns, the first dream will begin after ninety minutes of sleep and last for only 10 minutes. The cycles will recur in ninety-minute segments and the dreams will get longer each time, making the last dream reach as long as fifty minutes – and is the dream you will most likely remember.
So, what are dreams? Scientists are not sure why we need to sleep and why we dream, but dreams appear to be necessary to maintain both mental and physical health. People who are awakened before a dream cycle is started and thus, prevented from having a dream, tend to become unsocial, anxious and insecure. Not having dreams can cause issues with memory and learning – which shows that dreaming is quite important.
The brain runs like a super computer that processes all the information downloaded from our senses and is always running. During our sleep cycle, it takes this downtime to process data inputted during the day. Dreams help organize this information and may be the reason why unrelated or insignificant events, things or people from your recent waking experience will make an appearance in your dreams.
The unconscious mind is a powerful instrument by keeping track of thoughts, experiences and feeling. If you can begin to interpret your dreams and examine the symbols in it, you will begin to learn about yourself, your goals, fears, and roadblocks.
By looking up dream symbols you will be able to link your dreams to what your unconscious mind is telling you. An online dream dictionary contains many common dream symbols and their possible meaning, but the specific meaning may be entirely different to you than your best friend. Definitions provided here are a starting point to guide you through your own individual dream interpretation.
As you study your dreams, you will begin to remember them more easily and understand them more easily. Your ability to understand yourself and others will increase.
Dreams are amazing creations made by our minds in which we produce, write, direct, design and star in them and the dream symbols are very important props that make the seen come alive. Dreams are a private communication with our inner selves and help us learn more about ourselves. We gain a deeper awareness of who we are. Sometimes dreams can even predict our future based on knowledge of what has happened in the past. Learning how to interpret dreams is a valuable experience (see Famous People Who Used Dreams).
